Boston State House #2 - Wood

Pattern Category: Places

Series: Floral Border

Object Type: Wares for Coffee and Tea

  • Diameter: 3.5 inches

This cup plate is another version of the view of the Boston State House by Enoch Wood. It appears to be an abbreviated version of Wood's #1 version, and it eliminates the floral wild rose border,  leaving a string border in place.  See the many other versions and views of this elegant structure in this database under this name, or "State House, Boston." At least 6 potters used this structure as a view. This view represents the appearance of the State House in 1804, it having been originally designed by the famous architect Bulfinch and built in 1795.
