Description:

This view, shown on a coffee pot,  is the same view used in the Beauties of America series by John and William Ridgway; that version of the pattern is titled Alms House, Boston, and can also be seen in this exhibit.  The almshouse, or poorhouse, was built on Leverett Street near the Charles River, after a design by Charles Bulfinch.  It served the city from 1800 to 1825.
