This plate  is apparently the only known form of Andrew Stevenson's version of this structure.  It shows the third Alms House, or poorhouse, in the city of New York, built in 1816 on the banks of the East River.   Later in the 19th century the building saw service as Bellevue Hospital.  The views Alms House, New York, in Ridgway's Beauties of America series, and Ralph Stevenson's Almshouse, New York, in the Vine Border series, can both be seen in this exhibit.
