Description:

This cup plate with white rim may be the only form in which this view, by this maker, appears.   A quite similar view was produced by Ridgway which is listed in this database.  It was also produced in pink transfer by an unknown maker.  The building was the new South Unitarian Church designed by Bulfinch and dedicated in 1814.  It stood on the green between Summer and Bedford streets on the site of the old church.  Octagon Church, as indicated by its name, was an eight-sided granite building and the first section of its six-tiered steeple was also octagonal.  The structure was torn down in 1868.
